Here we are once again, to come together not only as individual authors, but as one solid ever-expanding unit that unites every Friday from now until the end of time. Which could be next week or the week after (depending on who you talk to). To bring you the best Top 5 pieces of Sci-Fi that we can think of, without further adieu, I graciously welcome you back to another edition of Sci-Friday!
Before we get on with my Top 5 list this week I would like to give a shoutout to the authors that have been participating in Sci-Friday.
My apologies if I have missed anyone, all of these individuals are great authors go check them out before you read this! Here are my top 5 animated Sci-Fi movies and TV shows, let’s go!
Captain Planet (1990)
The world is in a state of peril and Gaia can no longer stand the devastation of planet Earth. To remedy the destruction she sends 5 magic rings to 5 planet conscious kids. The powers she bestows upon them are Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart!
When their powers are combined they summon the power of Captain Planet himself. Captain Planet cared deeply about the planet way before it was cool. He knew and he understood the situation. Captain Planet, he’s our hero!
Star Trek: The Animated Series - TAS (1973)
After Star Trek The Original Series was cancelled, yes cancelled in 1969, fans were left with a hole in their hearts and minds that only Star Trek could fill. This is when the great Gene Roddenberry had a great idea, Star Trek: The Animated Series.
Although it had the same characters as The Original Series and most of the same voices it was it’s own unique version of the show. The show sadly lasted for only two seasons but was the first Star Trek series to win an Emmy Award.
Having not been born when this show aired I just recently discovered The Animated Series but I think that it’s worth a watch, it’s a fun show!
Rick and Morty (2013)
Whether you’re into Sci-Fi or not Rick and Morty is always a great choice. This show is completely insane. In each episode, Rick, (a mad scientist) and Morty (Rick’s grandson) embark on interdimensional and often dangerous journeys through parallel universes, alternate dimensions, and worlds that don’t make sense to anybody… except Rick. This show has a lot of, What the Fuck, moments but is thoroughly hilarious.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)
In this incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, turtle brothers Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello all set out to be accepted in the human world, until they meet investigative reporter April O'Neil. It is then that she helps the brothers take on an evil syndicate of mutants but they may be getting in over their heads.
I have loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for about as long as I can remember and this movie is one of the best I’ve seen. My family and I just finished watching this endearing take on these mutated ninja brothers last night and I am sure will be watching it again in the not so distant future. I definitely recommend this one!
Aeon Flux (1991)
Aeon Flux takes place in a surreal German Expressionist-style futuristic dystopian universe.
Society has collapsed and city states have formed, each with it’s own set of governing rules. Through this, operative Aeon Flux emerges as a seductive agent working for the underground rebel organization known only as the Monicans.
She is a skilled assassin, trained in acrobatics, espionage, and martial arts. As Aeon undertakes dangerous missions, the series explores the consequences of absolute power. This series is not only intellectually stimulation but visually stunning as well. The world of Aeon Flux is not at all black and white but a seething grey, where the line between hero and villain are eternally blurred.
Aeon Flux and Captain planet ❤️
right in the childhood.
I've heard good things about the Ninja Turtle movie. A while back the Cartoon Art Museum here did a retrospective of ninja turtle art that I had so much fun at. Perhaps I should check out the movie.
