Sorry to hear of his passing. I have used his chickpea flour. Really good product. Loved reading this story and what a considerate employer he was.

I had steel cut oats this morning (as I have most mornings), but not Bob's (although I've had Bob's plenty of times in the past). These are high quality products whose company takes care of its employees, at least to a degree not typically seen in staple food businesses. Nice to see this piece today!

Steel cut oats have the best texture in my opinion. I tend to alternate between the steel cut and Muesli or Muselix, however you spell it, it's pretty damn good. I am pretty sure that my love of hearty breakfast cereals has effectively reached old man status by now.

same! I like the idea that I'm getting at least one substantial, healthy meal to start every day. Even if I go bonkers after that or have a bad eating day, at least the morning started right, and that matters.

I find if I can start my morning off healthy then it's easier to resist eating like crap for the rest of the day, but sometimes it goes off the rails and all bets are off!

100% I have noticed if I start the day with junk I'll have junk for the rest of the day! Goes without saying. What's steel cut oats?

Steel-cut oats are also known as Irish oatmeal, these oats are chopped into smaller pieces with a steel blade. They are the least processed form of oats. They have a more chewy texture and take about 20–30 minutes to prepare. Rolled oats or old-fashioned oats are steamed and then rolled flat. They are more processed and cook in about 5 minutes.

Thank you chef! I had no clue. Do these make a good creamy porridge or not?

I mean, if you eat like crap... at least you started strong! That really matters to our bodies.

Again, good article, and heartwarming. It sounds like this guy was a true servant of the Lord. I'm confident he has many rewards in heaven
