I like to take all of this stuff into account when I'm planning our meals out. I think we eat blueberries almost every day (steel cut oats + banana + blueberry is about as simple as it gets, and I have that every day). I'm also an enormous fan of dark chocolate, and coffee has at least been discussed as "good for your brain." Good enough for me!

Nice, I usually add blueberries and ground flax to steel cut oats. But speaking of dark chocolate, it also goes good in the oats, like a very dark chocolate, over 70% is what I like to go with, dark.

Neat, I've never tried that! Do you eat oats most days? What's your breakfast routine?

I usually do oats with berries/flax every other day and eggs with avocados, good fat and protein on the other days. I drink coffee every morning, gotta have that, but breakfast is usually fairly simple for me, sometimes a little bacon might sneak its way in there but not regularly.

Nice, you're getting a lot of very good nutrients just based on breakfast. That's kinda my strategy, too - I figure if I eat crap later in the day, at least I have that one square meal in my belly no matter what.

In my experience with my own health, there's quite a bit a healthy diet can take care of, heart issues, diabetes, blood pressure, etc. I refuse to eat a poor diet, then take a bunch of prescriptions counter my bad choices.
