Grab some chips and whatever else you want to Guacify because it’s Cinco de Mayo. This recipe is so simple even your dog could make it, and maybe one day they will.
Here’s what you will need:
2 large Ripe Avocados
The juice of 1/2 of a lime, more if your lime isn’t juicy
1/4 of a Yellow Onion minced, (More if you Like)
Fresh cilantro about 1 Tbsp
Granulated Garlic to taste
Salt to taste
Cut your avocados in half slicing around the pit, twist them apart, and remove the pit. Scoop avocado flesh from the skin with a spoon into a medium sized mixing bowl.
Mash avocado with a potato masher until it is as smooth as you want. Add onion, cilantro, granulated garlic, salt and, lime juice. Mix until ingredients are fully combined. Taste. Adjust seasonings if need be.
This is a basic guac that goes well on just about anything from tacos, burritos, burgers or just put it on some toast, it’s extremely versatile.
As I said this is a straightforward recipe that could easily be added to and expanded as you see fit. Make it spicy, add some interesting chilies, make it your own, and most importantly, enjoy!
Chef? Why no tomatoes?
This is great. I don't have a potato masher, but do you think I could use a combo of some other kitchen tools to do similar things? I do have a mortar and pestle, but it's small.
