Virtual reality headsets are getting pretty good now too...I'm just waiting for my daughter to get stuck in an alternate reality so I can go rescue her.
I enjoyed this article very much. The one thing that's interesting to me about sci-fi tech becoming real-life technology is how many scientists and engineers that developed this tech grew up as fans of these various sci-fi TV shows and movies. What they saw on the screen inspired their inventions.
Remember the "Johnny Cab" from Total Recall? That was another amazing example of a self-driving car!
Yes! I almost added "Johnny Cab" to this piece!

The first thing I remember seeing self-driving cars in was Demolition Man. I thought they were so cool in that movie, and they really hauled ass.
I'll tell you one thing, though: if the transporter becomes a real-life thing, I am *not* volunteering to test it first.
If the transporter ever becomes a real thing then I would need to see a few thousand other volunteers go first.
I'm in the McCoy camp as well.

Absolutely! Sci-Fi has helped and is continuing to help bring amazing technology into reality! Thank you!
My son included in that one, he loves the VR.
